Dennis De Peiza |
General Secretary of (CTUSAB) 2002 to present
In the year 2002, Dennis de Peiza assumed the office of General Secretary of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados. Prior to this he held the offices of Treasurer (1998-2000) and Assistant General Secretary (2000-2002) respectively.
As a teacher trade unionist, he held the offices of President, General Secretary and Public Relations Officer of the Barbados Union of Teachers, and has served on the Executive Council of that union for twenty one years.
At the regional level, he served as the 3rd Vice President and as a Trustee of the Caribbean Union of Teachers. Mr. de Peiza holds a B.A (Hons.) Degree in History & Sociology (UWI), Certificate in Educational Management & Administration (UWI, Cave Hill), and a Masters Degree (MA) in Public Administration, from the University of Baltimore, USA.
In addition, he holds a Diploma in Managing Public Relations from the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP), which he earned with distinction.
He has received trade union training at the Trade Union Education Institute, Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies, and the National Labour College in Maryland, USA. On completion of his training at UWI, Mona, he was awarded a certificate in Labour Economics (Certificate of Merit), and a certificate in Labour Relations Studies, from the America Institute For Free Labour Development, National Labour College, USA.
He has also undergone specialized training, which credits him as a trainer of trainers for the Promotion of Management and Labour Cooperation (PROMALCO).
Dennis de Peiza is the author of the book, ‘Issues and Responses’ which was published in 2006. The book features a collection of articles, speeches and commentaries on industrial relations, education, cultural, socio-economic and political issues.
In 2011 he launched his second work, which is entitled 'Guidelines to Fire and Emergency Procedures Manual.' |
