Appointment of Barbados' Ambassador to CARICOM

PRESS RELEASE DECEMBER 02, 2011

The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), congratulates the Hon. Robert ‘Bobby’ Morris, GCM, BCH, on his appointment as Barbados Ambassador to CARICOM.

 

His appointment to the office of Barbados Ambassador to CARICOM comes on the heels of his retirement as the Deputy General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union.

 

A veteran trade unionist who is well known for his negotiation and dispute resolutions skills, and as a renowned historian, and former local parliamentarian, he brings a high level of enterprise and range of skills, to the office as Ambassador.

 

CTUSAB lauds the choice of the Hon. Robert ‘Bobby’ Morris as the island’s Ambassador to CARICOM, as he brings with him vast experience in functioning at the regional level.

 

It is to be noted that at the regional level, he served as the 1st Vice President of the Caribbean Congress of Labour, as an External Collaborator with the International Labour Organization, has trained more than one thousand trade unionists across the region, and was the lead negotiator for the trade unions in the merger of Barclays Bank and CIBC, which formed First Caribbean International Bank.
