CTUSAB's Response to the Devastation in Haiti - 13 Jan 2010

PRESS RELEASE - JANUARY 13, 2010

The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), joins with the Nation in agonizing over the devastation, loss of life, grief and suffering experienced by the people of Haiti, as a consequence of the earthquake which rocked the sister Caribbean island.

CTUSAB supports a swift National  coordinated response, and calls on the Government and the people of Barbados to support such an effort, by making available whatever resources that are immediately and urgently required, in addition to financial contributions.

Following on the recent spate of seismic activity that has been experienced across the region, CTUSAB views that there need to be a heightened awareness and focus on emergency and disaster planning.  The Congress suggest that this would go a long way in preparing our people to respond in the event of a national disaster and/or crisis situation.
