Public Sector Wages and Salary Agreement 2010-2012

The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados has signaled to the Government of Barbados.   It is the intention to commence preliminary discussions, with a view of establishing a framework for a new collective Wages and Salaries Agreement for Public Sector employees.

In a letter directed to the Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, dated May 4, 2010, CTUSAB acknowledged the standard arrangement where discussions commence at the level of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Civil Service; but advanced the position that in as much the first step towards a revision was taken by the office of the Prime Minister on March 01, 2010, a follow up meeting would serve a useful purpose.

In preparation for the upcoming negotiations, discussions at the level if the CTUSAB Executive Board, and that of the affiliates, the focus of attention has been on the options of a wage freeze, moratorium, and/or an increase in wages and salaries.
