2011 Independence Day Message |
INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE
The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados joins with Barbadians at home and abroad in celebrating the nation’s 45th anniversary of independence. This is an achievement of which all nationals of this land should be justifiably proud.
Amidst the celebrations, it is important that citizens and residents alike take some time to reflect on the development of the island state over the past forty-five years.

BAMP & the QEH Board (PR Sept. 7, 2011) |
PRESS RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 7, 2011
CTUSAB has noted with some concern the substance of the exchanges in the media between its affiliate, BAMP, and the Board of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and regrets in particular that there has been no meaningful progress on the detailed proposals submitted by BAMP in January, 2011.
CTUSAB is aware that all agents of the Government as employer are obliged under Protocol VI to conduct themselves in accordance with the best practice in industrial relations. The reports in the press indicate clearly that the process of negotiation between the QEH Board and BAMP has been less than perfect by far.

The Rising Levels of Crime & Violence (PR Sept 2, 2011) |
THE RISING LEVELS OF CRIME AND VIOLENCE
PRESS RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 2, 2011
The unprecedented levels of reported violent crimes and the high incidence of murders recorded in Barbados so far for the year, present a worrying phenomenon which can potentially impact negatively on the already ailing economy of the island. The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) is concerned about the fallout for the tourist industry, as a direct consequence of the heightened media coverage; which can paint a negative picture, and so tarnish the reputation of the island as a safe destination.
